Honeycomb
Creating Opportunities I update my website periodically to add new pieces to my gallery portfolio, products to the store, and articles I’ve written to my blog. In June of 2024, I added a page for those interested in hiring me to do commission work. Simply put, you can’t sell what you don’t offer. As I was sitting on the floor in my bedroom adding this page to my website, I figured that even if I don’t get a commission request anytime soon, at least the availability is the

R.G.A.I. - Defining my Art, Creating a Movement
It’s been challenging to find the appropriate term to define my art style. So far I’ve described my paintings as having characteristics of, or taking inspiration from the following: Hard Edge, Constructivism, Geometric Abstraction, Modernism, Contemporary, and even Minimalism. As I was reflecting on the appropriateness to describe my art style in one way or another, I needed to know more. Having no formal education in art but rather a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies, I as

Altruism
I frequently visit one of my friend’s homes for dinner. They have a four-person dining table in their dining area next to the kitchen. When sitting at the table, the kitchen is behind my back and I’m facing straight ahead towards a white wall. A wall in need of life. They have already decorated some areas with pleasant house plants but another pop of color was a must. Inspiration for this piece was drawn from multiple different places. I knew I wanted the painting to p

Simple Moments
Creating takes a unique type of confidence that I simply describe for myself as “just having the audacity”. I say this because I rarely execute a plan from start to finish the way I initially intend. There’s almost always some little problem that comes up in my creative process but I like a challenge so I’m happy to be persistent. The creation process for this piece is the perfect example of this type of situation! The Idea The above images are: The second sketch that was

Eco Design
The Idea I was in New York for New Year's and had a fabulous time visiting various art galleries including the Met, The Guggenheim, and a few other smaller galleries! I felt so inspired and I was sure to take a ton of pictures of things I liked, interesting shapes, and other things in general that I might want to paint. As we were leaving our hotel (The Standard High Line) I took this really snazzy picture of it! Once back home in North Carolina, I was scrolling through my g

Formation
The Idea A few months ago I painted the piece you see above. All I knew is that I wanted to incorporate circles, smooth lines, and basic colors. It wasn’t until I completed the painting that I decided it reminded me of the cosmos. Simply defined, the cosmos includes all of space and energy that space contains. It’s the complex and orderly system that surrounds us. I wasn’t around to see it happen, but I’m sure it had to start somewhere. This brought me to the conclusion

Looking at Love
I love creating, which of course is why art is so enjoyable to me! When I want to give someone a gift that comes from the heart, I tend to use art as my method to do so. I create a painting for them that’s a representation of something significant in their life. This specific piece is an example of just that! One of my friends has a cat that is essentially his son. The last time I petted the little guy I was looking at his cute face and thought of painting him, but then

Creating Sailing Sunsets
While on a trip to see my dad for a few days this past spring, I took this picture of the sun setting over the water as we were sailing from St.Martin to St.Kitts. I wanted to remember my first time sailing on the sea with my dad and the serenity of the whole experience; but most of all, I wanted to paint it! I sketched this idea out on my canvas a while ago so I felt more pressure to get the colors * just * right. I decided to use the color matching tool in Photoshop to cho

My First Commission
Christmas of 2022 was approaching and I was running out of gift ideas for my family members. I decided to create a fun, colorful, and puzzle-like painting because I thought it would be fun for the family to share pieces of a whole. I sketched out a whimsical mushroom village with a fantastical sky and painted it with almost every color of the rainbow. It turned out super cute and it was a hit with the family! So much of a hit that my Aunt asked if I would do a commission
